I must admit that I probably are a total beginner on Twitter itself, but maybe I can still manage to sort out some concepts and answer some questions anyway.
What is Twitter?
Twitter is usually called a “micro-blogging systems,” but that’s almost easier to see ahead of them if, instead saying that it’s more like Facebook status updates. Instead of a friends list, choose the person you wish to subscribe to and see where their tweets (A = a tweet on Twitter messages). These are, of course, to answer, or even self-publishing (forwarding) through a “Retweet.
How twittrar you?
There are several ways and a number of programs you can use the but first you need to make an account on twitter.com (do not forget to accept the email they send you). Then it’s just to run yesterday! There are several ways to send your tweets (yes, posts that is).
» Twitters website – Just log in and read-
» Mobile – There are two ways to twittra by phone. Do you have a fancy mobile phone, you can add programs to make sure you can follow your Twitter, but the easiest is to simply send an SMS. On the Twitter home page under Settings – Mobile, set it. (It will be that “We do not support Sending SMS to this number ‘and it just means that they can not send updates to you, you can send anyway.)
Updated: GetJar – Here are Snaptu and other free programs to use to have Twitter on your mobile, even for us who do not have very nice phones.
» External Programs – My personal favorite. Put a program on your computer that you follow everything in. I prefer TweetDeck in which you can also add facebook, send to Facebook, and also see the updates from there, that you do not have to log in on that side also.
Add Photos
Adding photos is not difficult at all. Do you use TweetDeck, simply drag the photo in the chat box and use your cell phone, you can email the photo (if you set up an email on your mobile, otherwise a gmail for regge tend to be easier to add in mobiles). Log in to Twitpic the same you have logged on as usual on Twitter and look at your specific address to mail to.
Interaction with other
(These three functions can be found by holding the cursor over your user picture in TweetDeck and most other programs)
» Mentions (mentioned) – When you answer or write to someone, or even to mention only some, those messages will appear in their threads and also controlled by an @ sign. For example, would you write to me so, type @ SweDuck and when can I see your posts even if I do not subscribe to your tweets. (The same feature is on Facebook)
» Instant messages – You can send a message to someone that only they can read but then you must either subscribe to each others’ tweets, type ‘be friends’ you could say. When you have such, you usually have an email about that too.
» Retweet (pass on) – If you want to pass on a message someone else posted, click Retweet. Your message will then intro RT. For example, I sent a nice link and you want to pass it on. You click Retweet and there will be type “RT @ SweDuck Check out this link”
Shorten links
Since you only have 140 characters in a tweet so, they are happy shorten links. Most programs (when you twittrar from the computer) does this automatically for you or is there a button next to the chat box which you can click and paste the address in order to shorten it up there.
Hashtaggar
A hashtagg marked with the symbol # and is a way to show interest or add your tweets to a specific list. A popular tag right now is # svpt which stands for “Swedes On Twitter” and all that follows the tag can then see your message. Using hashtaggar is a great way to find more friends people who follow your tweets.
More popular tags are:
# Svpt – As I mentioned above, the Swedes on Twitter
# Svblogg – When someone updated a Swedish blog often used this
# Photo – Our Swedish photo-enthusiasts happily use this
# Ffse – Stands for Follow Friday used to tip others about any funny twittrare to follow. # Ffse are our Swedish and # ff is more international.
